No real renovations, same old look but, since there are no quotes on 'closed' they ARE going to be closed.
WHat language is this, i wonder. The best i could do is Catalan where "an poc fada" translated to 'a little fairy'. Nothing for "Cead mile failte" though....
"An Poc Fada" is from the sport of hurling: it's a competition to hit the ball the furthest. A "poc" (I don't think there's an English translation; I suppose "punt" would be closest) is a strike of the ball. "An Poc Fada" means "The Long Poc".
"Céad míle fáilte" is "One hundred thousand welcomes". A standard bit of paddywhackery and somewhat inappropriate for a business that's closed!
Some establishments that close for "renovations" are actually going through a shutdown because of health code violations. In some places, local health departments will close a place but not force them to say why they're closed, so they say it's for "renovations".
I just want to tell you how much I love your blog!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the help BeerNut.
ReplyDeleteSteve, that makes it a little disconcerting that it also says "watch out for part 3".
Maybe they're just repainting.
