sorry for "the" inconvenience

I am trying to figure out what this writer could have been thinking with this one. Maybe there are multiple and perpetual inconveniences. Thanks, Steve.

    The author is being snarky. Clearly this is just an inconvenience among many caused by the bank.

    I am amazed at the variations on this one.

    We have seen many "sorry" apologies, and even some "inconveniences", but quoting 'the' is a new one.
