Back when bicycles were color-coded, blue was for girls and red was for boys. Yet for today's baby clothing (and greeting cards?), blue is for boys and pink (light red) is for girls. Makes you think.
Actually, Hallmark does sell cards that are for someone who is "like a daughter to me", so the quotation marks here may in fact be necessary/correct.
