So, what we have here is a glutinous doughy mass with some bacteria in it (that may or may not be yeast), which was then fashioned into a 'food' that is of a soft, mushy or creamy consistency and may [or may not] be sweet, and has been either boiled, steamed, or baked. Yum yum!!!
