What I love about these quotation marks is that the sentence is such a tautology. The alarm sounds like an alarm folks. I know that's obvious, so I'm putting it in quotation marks. Thanks, Alena.

Sounds like? Does that mean it approximates one but isn't?
i bet a graphic designer was told to put it on there, and thought it was ridiculous, so made it a quote from the guy forcing him to do it
This blog is the reason my students think I'm insane - giggling to myself in the back of the room....oh, and this "Fire alarm" thing has a nice, musical rhythm to it...."Thanks"
They probably asked the installer, "what does the alarm sound like," to which he responded, "it sounds like a loud alarm tone." Hence the quotation.
