cheesy?

I just learned (to my lactose-intolerant delight) that vegan cheesecake exists. If that is what they are selling here, then I am behind the cake AND the quotation marks. Thanks, Joe.

  1. Even if it's a vegan "cheese" cake, I'm not sure I want it to be alive...

  2. Yeah, the "live" part is what's disturbing to me.

  3. Vegan "cheese" cake does exist, and trust me, you don't want any part of it.

  4. I think the real issue here is that it should actually be called cheese "cake" ... everyone knows it's actually a type of pie.

    That is all.

  5. To Kathy and Jill, my guess would be that the "cheese"cake is possibly made with yougurt? And yes, Buffy i have had tofu cheesecake, it is NOT to die for.

Hollybehl you raise the best issue, i wonder how many people failed to have that realization?

  6. kyotofu in nyc has a "cheesecake" that's made with tofu! it's more like cheesecake flavored pudding with a bit of sponge cake on the bottom but it's amazing!

  7. Actually cheese cake is a baked custard more than a pie. I guess its a custard pie if you put a crust on it (though you don't have to have a crust).

I would have thought they made lactose-free cream cheese, if you have a local Jewish community you might want to check out their shops.

But I hear soy cream cheese makes an ok cheese cake, I'm not supposed to eat much soy so its not something I'd try.

  8. Wow, has no one here ever been to a raw food place? This is clearly a dessert menu from a raw place (notice the cashew truffles.) Raw places are all vegan, and "cheese"cake is another really common raw dessert. It's probably made out of some sort of nut. Not tofu. Tofu isn't raw. Live is another big raw thing. You people need to get out and taste the world!

  9. Cool, but what if you prefer the pre-recorded "cheese" cake?
