assumed name graduate
Heather told me that the guy in this photo is "Travis" but she did not tell me his real name, or if the other person is herself. I'm gonna guess "Travis" has an embarrassing real name, but he should have come up with a cooler nickname, something tough or mysterious, like "Magic" or "Shark."
Heather later gave me this additional story: Travis told me that the week prior to the day of his party/this picture, he’d been at another graduation party where the same culprit had made a similar celebratory sign with quotes around the honoree’s name. Travis remembered telling “everyone [at the party] who would listen” how ridiculous the unnecessary use of quotation marks (around the girl’s name) was. Needless to say, he was a little taken aback when his parents hired the same sign-maker for his party….
It's obvious that the two people in the picture, whoever they are, are making air quotation marks
ReplyDeleteBecause we don't know any of these graduates' real names, they could have saved some money and used the banner from last week.
ReplyDeleteAt least they spelled "Congratulations" with a T.
True story. Only the names were changed to protect "the innocent"....
ReplyDeleteDon't we all use unnecessary quotation marks from time to time? It is silly and I will try to listen to the truth of this thing we do not have to do so often. This story is quite amusing.
ReplyDeleteHugs...Jeanne
Bethany - surely you know that you can't give yourself a nickname...
ReplyDeleteDon't we all use unnecessary quotation marks from time to time?
ReplyDeleteMaybe YOU do.
I'm wondering what that bizarre thing on the girl's shirt is.
ReplyDeleteUnnecessary quotation marks aside, are you telling me that someone paid to have that sign made?
ReplyDeleteYa gotta love the multiple exclamation points, too. Nice touch. 'Cause you just can't have enough punctuation.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha at Kevin! Took the words right out of my mouth.
