Dakota is not sure why this cake decorator believes she is celebrating under an assumed name (look closely, the punctuation kind of blends in with the swirls, but it is totally there, decoratively placed.)
OMG, that totally happened to me one time! I was in charge of getting the cake for a graduation party, and when I went to order it, they *made* me write it in quotation marks- so "the cake decorator would know exactly which words to write" they said. Never mind that the form clearly stated that these were the words to be written on the cake. Anyway, then the cake came with quotation marks on it! I was pretty upset. I imagine Dakota was as well.
Must be a code name of some kind *nodnods*
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I bet those quotation marks are as seasick as that cake is making me!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the decorator is guessing that Dakota doesn't want to be so strongly associated with this cake. I wonder why..
ReplyDeleteAww, I think this cake is kind of cute! At least it's creative.
ReplyDeleteAs for the quotes, do we know for a fact that the person's legal name is Dakota, or is that just the name by which they are commonly known?
Like my bro-in-law "Blacky," quotes seem appropriate in that case.

ReplyDeleteCake is a form of food that is usually sweet and often baked.
ReplyDeleteYAAAAAAAAY!
ReplyDeleteYou used my cake!
As Pagani guessed, Dakota is my middle name, but it's what I go by and it's also what I told her to put on the cake.
hmmmm... Cake Wrecks...
I can't remember if I sent it to her or not.
I think "Dakota" is her stripper name.
ReplyDeleteI actually think this one's legit. The quotes are to indicate spoken words. "Happy Birthday, Dakota!"
ReplyDeleteMrs. X, maybe they’re “German quotes.„
ReplyDeleteGreg Hatch, then the cake either reads Happy Birthday “Dakota” or “Dakota Happy Birthday,” based on the quote placement.
