There's a side dish at NYC delis called Health Salad. It's basically coleslaw without mayo. I think that's what they meant here, but got the whole thing bunged up.
Some people think "health food" implies bad taste. They're saying, "Yeah, it's healthful, but it's not the stuff your mom called health food, so lighten up."
