Colleen cracked me up with this email: "I saw this guy at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston recently. It's a sculpture of a Chinese demon, but it inspired my boyfriend to immediately say, "Those air quotes are totally unnecessary." So of course I'm sending it to you."
I was an art major, so naturally I think this is the most awesome pic I've seen you post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Colleen and Colleen's boyfriend. That was a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteThat is just awesome!
ReplyDeleteSay, could it be that a demon *invented* air quotes?
ReplyDelete(I actually don't mind air quotes where appropriate. The only other unambiguous way to convey quotation marks in speech is to say "quote" and "unquote," which is cumbersome, frequently messed up, and no less annoying.)
I hope that demon didn't see me laughing at my computer. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThe demon is air quoting what you told him your Chinese symbol tattoo means, because he knows what it really says.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome... as I've often thought that there should be a blog for unnecessary air quotes.
ReplyDeleteWhich "dynasty" did this dude come from? Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteLols, awesome post. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it, b/c so often I want to say something to someone when they use Air Quotes, but never speak up.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this!
ReplyDeleteI just spit coffee all over my monitor. Thanks.
