OK I promise to never sing "The Wind Beneath my Wings" or have a heart-warming reunion in front of the turtles. (I didn't know they were so emotionally unstable).
The prohibition is against standing on coral, which can easily be injured or killed by the weight of a person. It's a serious problem in nearshore Hawaiian ecosystems.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the prohibition against standing here.
I think it might mean don't "molest" the turtles?! hehe
I'm with acpaul. Why can't people stand? I understand why they shouldn't harass the coral, but banning standing is just mean...
There's "good touching" and "bad touching". They must be referring to the latter.

Then it should say, "Please do not stand ON or break off pieces...."
And BTW this belongs in the greatest hits IMO. The mental picture I get when I read about not "touching" the turtles...
Goodness! Reminds me of when my 4 year old was "kissing" me with her hands. Which seemed an awful lot like slapping, but what do I know?
