popcorn-like substance

There is I guess a subway knockoff where you can pay for this food that is on the borderline of being called popcorn, although I don't know why you would. Thanks, Ruth, who spotted this inside Walmart.

  1. I'm confused . . . WalMart cannot ring out the actual POPCORN at the registers, but what about the "POPCORN"? Can they ring that out at the registers or not?

  2. And one must wonder if the "Subway" is really a subway, or not...

  3. Walmart used to sell popcorn out of their own facilities (most have a bakery or other production means, or used to.) The rather large bags of popcorn would be sold from racks located very near the doors of the store. It was pretty good popcorn in general, and rather cheap. Now that a Subway store is in most Walmarts, Subway is limiting what items can be sold in-store, and popcorn was one of them. So to provide popcorn sales on the Subways located in the store can produce and sell the product. And because of the seperation of business between Walmart and Subway, only the purchase is allowed at the Subway checkout, and not the normal Walmart checkout lanes. Too bad, even the quality of the popcorn has fallen.

  5. Wow, this is so fitting for me because I used to work "in" a "Walmart," and I happen to understand the phrase "Do I pay for these at the cash register?" LOL! Great blog by the way!
