Diane writes, "We encountered this sign at the Atlantic City Aquarium. Since the door back to the building had locked behind us, this was our only way out, but based on the sign we weren't sure if there was an alarm or not. So, we climbed over, which I'm sure the gate found very 'alarming'."

I wonder what upset it?
I once saw another alarmed door sign in Vancouver, no quotation marks though.
I suspect someone told it that it was ajar, that sort of thing can be upsetting.
@Sam--indeed! An identity crisis would be very alarming to a door, or anyone else, for that matter.
somebody really upset the door. poor door.
