Sushigrade passes this Ithaca farmstand regularly and writes, "Actually, judging from the size of the cauliflower I picked up there, they may be the "pumpkins" to which the sign refers. They're huge!" Or maybe they also sell plastic decorative produce?
I've seen that sign before! How exciting to have my home town debut on the blog!

1. WHY the two lone lowercase "i"s?
2. What- the cinder block is to discourage someone who might be tempted to run off with that seatless rickshaw? Not that I couldn't find a gazillion uses for it myself...
I imagine the cinderblock is actually there to prevent the thing from tipping up and over in the event that the wind catches it.
ReplyDeleteThey're clearly very practical farmers, but perhaps they should have had a little more education in grammar. ;-)
Perhaps the "apples" and "pumpkins" are not real. The cinder block keeps the thing from rolling maybe.
ReplyDeleteok this reminds me of a time a few years ago when the produce center near my husband's grand-ma's house had pumpkins out. But the sign above them said "Tangerines 58 cents!" My mouth worked before my mind and I said "Those are the biggest tangerines I've ever seen!" Needless to say I hear it evertime we see a tangerine sign.
