Not to be crude or anything, but my girlfriend (now wife) and I were awoken by some undergrads urinating from the second floor balcony on a car parked below. This sign would have been appropriate.
(BTW-Since you all are experts in grammar, did I use "awoken" correctly?)
It's most likely referring to the days of the Anabaptists during the Reformation. Anabaptists were frequently drowned as a punishment for "rebaptizing" themselves. Anabaptists were getting baptized as adults because they believed that their infant baptisms were not legitimate. So as a punishment for this "rebaptism," the authorities would frequently give them the "final baptism" by drowning them in a river. Of course, the sign is meant as a little bit of church history humor.
Hm...i'll keep out of THAT parking lot then...
ReplyDeleteWhat would Jesus do, y'all? Seriously. He wouldn't do this. I'm quite sure of that.
ReplyDeleteIt's a more of a joke not so much a threat! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting!

I think it means drowned!
ReplyDeleteBaptism by fire mayhaps?
ReplyDeleteYou know, "Baptized"... with a Guillotine.
ReplyDeleteAre you able to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

ReplyDeleteNo. "We have awoken", "we were awakened".
