Taste of... vegetable tempura!
It's probably imitation crab. That's pretty common.
"Taste of" !? Is that like a full meal, or...
Ah, the Taste of Chicago (or something somewhere exactly like it)...I think most of the "food" there should be in quotation marks.
This one actually makes sense to me. If you like, you can get a "Taste of" portion rather than a full portion. And the "crab" is probably that imitation crabmeat.
Of course, this might just be wishful thinking as I try to justify that sign.
I don't get why "taste of" is in quotes, but the "crab" part makes perfect sense.
Its never real crab "anywhere" anymore, and you usually have to "ask" whether its "real" or not.
At least a sign that says "crab" would let intelligent people know its imitation, while fooling stupid people who probably aren't smart enough to know the difference anyway.
I'm going to agree that "crab" is probably accurate. Processed, dyed pollack (a kind of whitefish), often referred to on sushi menus as "crab stick", is a lot less expensive than actual crab. It's also a lot less tasty, in my opinion.
I took this same photo but forgot to send it in! LOL.
I actually think the "of" is the problem at the bottom, particularly since everyone just orders a "taste portion, please" anyway. But since it's the Taste of Chicago, then you get a "taste" (sometimes just barely, sometimes much more than) of the restaurant. Who orders the big portions anyway? They're so many tickets it's crazy.
Maybe that's why everyone there is so happy...
All the crabby people are mysteriously missing...
I think they might have used quotation marks instead of an asterisk.

Hey all, let us rejoice in a completely proper use of " "s on a sign, since "crab" is a genuine product.
Trish is correct: they are offering a "Taste of" portion because this is at the Taste of Chicago.
