My guess on this one: the motel office is LIKE a bar: there are drunk people around and they might hit on you.

If I had to work a a kitschy BBQ/bungalow motel office in a town named after a horror movie I might move the office right into the bar too.
My reading of this one: The _actual_ office is empty because the owner is always drunk. ;)
