This one is not clearly "unnecessary"---it might just be the name of the printer.
I like to think of it as though that's what the printer is saying to people as they approach. Especially to the bastards who aren't staff.
I think they're trying to clarify that the printer is considered staff, like the Carbon Rod at the Springfield Power Plant. Time for the Worker of the Week award!
In a cost saving move, the actual staff has been replaced with a printer.
