fake siblings

Brittany lets us know that while the Judds may or may not be brothers, the location was not shaped like a square.

  1. I don't normally enlarge the pictures unless I can't read the important bit, but I just had to know if the sign was a local one. I was right. There are quite a lot of intersections in the greater Boston area that could rightfully be called "squares".

Can't speak to accuracy of the Judd "family", though.

  2. I'm thinking the Judds are brothers kind of like the Ramones were brothers.

  4. I agree, this is hilarious. And considering what you write about in this blog, I highly recommend you watch the show "Frisky Dingo" on Adult Swim. Season one had the most amazing dialogue regarding the use of unnecessary quotation marks.

  7. Brothers or not, the quotation marks should have been inset left so the the "B" in Brothers lined up with the "J" above and the "S" below.
    Neatness counts!

  8. I admit, I love when a sign that obviously cost money to produce, probably tax-payers' money to boot, features something wrong. It's just so right!!!

  9. A friend of mine was told that if he donated a certain amount of money to the Cambridge fire department, he could have a square named after him. We joked about how he would have to make up a funny name, because most squares seem to be named after people with at least four names, one or more of which may be reduced to initials, and one of which is an alias. Many of the squares also have quotes around what is apparently the nickname of the benefactor, such as:

    N. Christopher Augustus "Topher" Smith Jr. Square

I made that up, but they are mostly like that.
