Second Bucks Barista, eh, seconding the silly names. Even more confusing? A skinny latte HAS to have a syrup (sugar free). If you want a latte with skim milk, you need to ask for a non-fat latte. Which goes against about ten years of practice of people asking for skinny lattes meaning a latte with nonfat milk. Starbucks likes to screw with their customer's heads, I swear.
Ugh, it belongs it quotes. It's not actually made with cinnamon and stuff, just some pre-fab flavored syrup. I swear, when they got that mint chocolate syrup and stopped using the peppermint syrup along with chocolate, I died a little on the inside. The new honey lattes? Syrup. With a drizzle of real honey on top. It's a little sad.
Jeff -- the honey thing pisses me off. I used to work at a Borders Cafe (before they were consumed by Seattle's Best) and our most popular drink was a Honey Vanilla Latte. Made with real honey. When the espresso was added to the honey, it was very easy to work with, so I don't understand why the Bucks isn't using real honey. It's like, let's take one of nature's greatest natural sweeteners and make it a chemical sweetener that tastes like it. The drink isn't popular either. People rarely order it and those who do don't enjoy it. I make sure to let them know it doesn't have real honey in it, but honey-flavored syrup.
yeah, my boyfriend was really excited. He loves honey, he makes tea that's like 30% honey. He was pretty pissed about the syrup. it's so true, it's like nature's gift to us, already IN syrup form! There's no excuse not to use it.
"Should the punctuation be placed within the quotation marks"?
ReplyDeleteAs an employee of Starbucks, I feel I can speak freely on this matter. We do all think the new names are silly! :)
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder what I might actually be drinking!

Punctuation does not always need to be within the quotation marks. It's just something us silly Americans believe.
ReplyDeleteIf the quote is a complete sentence, yes.
