"Goldfish" doesn't bother me so much, since they're likely referring to those goldfish-shaped crackers, and not actual fish; it actually does make the meaning a bit clearer, this way.
"Do your share" might work if it's something they say to the kids all the time. It's not that bad.
That being said...I don't even want to know what they mean by "AREA"...
I still think it's weird because 1) crackers are already forbidden and 2) what's wrong with those foods? (guess: they make a lot of crumbs. Still, weird.)
Yeah, it's weird that it's "NO Goldfish Crackers" instead of "No Goldfish Crackers." Or maybe they've just had an incident involving a child who just came from the pet store...
just say no?? seriously, someone's on a little power trip. which, sadly i've seen first hand, as i used to work at a childcare facility. this sad, sad woman (let's call her Renee [go to hell], but not use her last name), would relish in the fact that the moms would try to get on her good side, as they would be leaving their toddlers with her. then, she'd sit back and judge the children, and if she arbitrarily decided that a child was a bad seed, would neglect and punish them from there on out. MEANWHILE, her daughter who she brought every day, was a 2 year old violent tyrant, and the worst-behaved little sh- i've ever encountered.
and the moms would wonder why their children didn't want to come back. horrifying.
This totally cracked me up!

ReplyDeleteThat is some *ominous* cropping. Failure to comply may result in...?
ReplyDelete"Failure to comply" seems to be rather heavy language to use when addressing toddlers, too!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'd like to know what the consequences are, too!
ReplyDeleteI was just coming here to post a comment about that too! Failure to comply may result in...what? Beheading? Timeout? KP Duty? I'm dying to know.

Since the average toddler can't read, I have to wonder who these signs are really meant for.
ReplyDeleteWinners don't do goldfish!
ReplyDeleteWell given I live outside the US the "Goldfish" reference had me scratching my head..lol
ReplyDeleteWhoever wrote these better have had a sense of humor about it...
ReplyDeleteFailure to comply will result in a lot of crumbs all over the floor. THAT YOU HAVE TO CLEAN WITH YOUR TONGUE!! MUAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteFailure to comply will result in assimilation by the borg. We are the collective. Resistance is futile.
ReplyDeleteI would venture to guess that the average child these days learns the word "goldfish" as a cracker first and an animal second.
ReplyDeleteAlso, even if the toddler can read, can he/she really understand "failure to comply"?
I'm guessing this isn't the same place as Carleen's day "CARE" posted below.
ReplyDeletePsssst! Hey you, wanna buy some "goldfish"? Or I've got some primo popcorn here.
ReplyDeleteOh come on, just try it. Here's a free sample.
"May result in..."?
