jesus, that is a horrible sign. that might be the most drastically terrible thing I've seen on this site thus far. how on earth could anyone think that is remotely correct?
I actually used to work there at the Longview location, which was the first one, about 14 years ago. The one in Tyler is the second location. It is called Dressin' Gaudy Ditto...hence the ". For those of you who don't know " means ditto. Don't knock the place unless you have been there. It's a fun place to shop! They always had really great jewelry, clothing, and other accessories at low prices. I think the name is fun and it obviously draws attention which is what business owners want. The family who owns the stores are very good Christian people. I always go back for a visit when I am in town.
thanks for your defensive and condescending response, anonymous. I don't believe I was saying anything about the quality of the owners, or the PR benefits of the name, I'm just here to point out weird quotation marks. No need to get snotty about it.
What on earth does "Dressin Gaudy Ditto" mean? And why use a symbol which most people will assume is a mistake instead of spelling it out? Sorry, but Anonymous's "explanation" doesn't really make things much clearer. Plus, at least one of the people knocking the place has been there.
You guys are stupid. I visited over the weekend in Longview, Texas and bought a purse there. Some stuff is gaudy but over all its so cute. Is a neat store to find cute things that you wouldn't find somewhere else. I don't think you guys know what your talking about. Since you probably are stereotypic people and just assume because of the stores name. Thats lame. You should go in.
Lose half the QM, move the other after "dressin" and you've got yerself a sign!!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing that sign when I used to live in NE Texas. I knew it never looked right. I once made the mistake of going in that store. Even worse!
ReplyDeleteThat's worse than a dangling participle.
ReplyDeleteDear Gaudy.

ReplyDeletemy initial thought was
ReplyDelete"you betcha!"

no, i can't believe this exists. DRESSIN GAUDY"???? i would move away the moment i saw this sign in my town.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pronounced, DRESSin GOD-ee-uh-uh.
ReplyDeleteOh my CHRIST! I used to live in Longview, TX where there's ANOTHER Dressin Gaudy''
ReplyDeleteBecause you know you NEED more than one of these horrible places.
Maybe they're math geeks. Gaudy might be a mathematical symbol and they're just taking the 2nd derivative of it... ;)
ReplyDeleteoh my. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
ReplyDeleteWAIT I wasn't done!!
ReplyDeleteI think the store is for T.V. Pastor's wives with BIG stiff hair. And fake eyelashes. AND really cheesy smiles.
