Manhattan clam chowder. Gross. The "clam chowder" part definitely deserves 'em. It was actually invented in New Jersey, which helps explain why it's so awful. New England style all the way, baby!
take a gander at that "m" in clam. it's got two little legs awandering off. what a nifty embellishment. in fact, i think this sign is an example of quotation marks-as-embellishment. that's punctuaion abuse.
Does that price have umlauts? I knew "Manhattan" was tough, but I didn't think it was that bad.

ReplyDeleteOr, if a single set of quotation marks can imply a pair, it's 3.00 only in the loosest of terms, plus or minus as much as 99 cents.
