I believe that "no crocs on the escalators" is a good secret code for something. Just find an employee and say "the crow flies at midnight." Thanks, David.
I know that crocs are a type of shoe, and have been known to stick to escalators causing many injuries, especially to children. Perhaps this is what they were talking about. :) The Healy's line though, I have no clue about!
Thier legs are too short to make it up the steps, meaning they have to ride the WHOLE WAY UP, and they're so wide that I can't get past them. Man, people really need to keep their crocs at home!
it's simple... you may either not where heelies (which is how it should be spelled, trademarks be damned) on the premises OR you may not wear crocs on the escalators.
"this whole discussion is funnier if you pretend we're talking about crocodiles instead of shoes. Try it." I'm glad I'm not the only one so out of touch with reality that I was wondering why someone brought an alligator on to the escalator. Or maybe we just have really good taste. I think that sounds better.
LOL, andi! If it hadn't been for the people posting messages re this sign, I wouldn't have had a clue. Once it was explained, I did the V-8 head slap. Still, I prefer the alligator to those plastic, hole-y clogs.
This is especially hilarious for me because when my sister was little, she used to call escalators "alligators", as she couldn't pronounce the first word properly. Also, when wearing china flats at FAO Schwartz in San Francisco about 16 years ago, I actually did get a foot caught in the escalator, resulting in me losing a shoe to the beast (thankfully, not more than just a shoe!). Here's hoping I didn't misuse any quotation marks in this comment! ::gulp::
The "or" is the funniest part. I wish there was an "or" in between all of our laws: 1. Don't kill people, or 2. Don't steal from people, or 3. Don't rape people, or 4. etc.
Your choice! Pick one law to obey! Pick a new one each day!
I guess all these people are out of luck:

Who is this Healy person and what possessions of his or hers is not allowed on the premises?

ReplyDeletewhat's the problem with crocs on escalators, aside from them looking stupid?
ReplyDeleteAh... rock'n'roll McDonalds
ReplyDeleteThe first item in question refers to Heelys, a brand of skate shoes.

So what we have is a triple-whammy: unnecessary QMs, a misspelled brand name, and apostrophe abuse to boot!
this whole discussion is funnier if you pretend we're talking about crocodiles instead of shoes. Try it.
ReplyDeleteWhy or? Should it not be And between the two rules?
ReplyDeleteDo they mean you only have to follow one rule and not both?

ReplyDeleteI'm with anonymous #2...the word or confuses me.

ReplyDeletedon't you dare not do both!

ReplyDeleteAs they are both footwear, how could you follow both rules at the same time?

No Healy's (spelling? apostrophe, anyone?) on the premises...
ReplyDeleteOR
You can choose not to have your crocs on the elevators instead.
(They'll eat the machinery.)
