Jack at Princeton says this is the first thing visiting students see when they are looking for a tour. Surely, if you're a Princeton quality future undergrad, you will know what they mean by "upstairs".
For all those establishments with escalators, elevators, ladders or ropes. Otherwise, confused freshmen would be frantically searching for stairs that simply aren't there!
I especially like how they put in parenthesis and smaller font a reminder that this location is for undergrad admissions as if they are whispering a piece of secret information.
