"seafood"
Alden saw this one at Kroger. Given the recent reports about mercury, maybe "seafood" is a better choice....

not at all like chicago
Jennifer from that's punny sent me this ages ago, and now I'm posting it. She writes "I found this on the wall at a chicago bears themed bar in burbank, california. first of all, i love that not only do they mis-use quotation marks, they also have no idea what an apostrophe is for. the other major blunder (and perhaps this is why they use quotes, though i doubt it) is that those ingredients are NOT what make a chicago style hot dog. not even close."
extra credit
Extra credit to this website titled, Encouragement "Blossom's" In The Trauma.
This image comes from their website, from which I'll dutifully save you.
Not only do they imply that encouragement actually dies in the trauma, but the Blossom seems to possess something not appearing in that sentence. Perhaps it's a contraction? Blossom + is = Blossom's?
Also, and slightly further off-topic, is the "Welcome!!!" really exciting enough for three exclamation marks?
So, way to go, and a gold star awarded for providing a snarking tri-fecta.

not a burg at all
One good thing that came out of Jason's car breaking down is he took this picture. I'm guessing they are trying to highlight that this edinburg is not pronounced like the Edinburgh in Scotland. But seriously?
I'm at a conference again this weekend. I'm doing lots of exciting things, but not having much time to blog. I haven't forgotten you, but we'll be slow for a few days here.
Heath Ledger too soon
The recent tragic death of actor Heath Ledger has many people feeling a sense of mourning and loss. He was so young and he has passed too soon. He seemed to exhibit such talent. I personally appreciate a truly gifted actor who then shuns stardom and the trappings thereof. I'm saddened by his death, and perhaps even more-so by the media's obsession with trying to expose what may have been Mr. Ledger's personal demons.
However, on the morning news they were covering the funeral arrangements and I caught a shot of the awning outside of Frank E. Campbell "The Funeral Chapel" and I felt better.
It's actually a speakeasy.
Too soon?

I guess if you're really in pain it's not much of a life. And I don't know what a "weekend warrior" is. Thanks, Lorraine.

if you call that virtue
Fred alerted me to the presence of this sampler on his blog. If you click to enlarge you can see the quotes also present around the word "husband." I've always had some sarcasm about the way this Proverbs passage gets deployed. I think this stitcher did too.

"chance"
Do you feel "lucky"?
It will only cost you $50 to find out.
Or is that just like pumping $50 in quarters into a slot machine?

"Pasta Night"
It's strange enough that the clover bar only serves dinner on Thursdays. But since Thursday is an anything can happen day, "Pasta Night" seems strangely appropriate. You might get pasta or maybe a bicycle.
