Oh, I don't like it as much. I always found those quotes endearing. It was like "isn't this backwards R just TOOOOOOO cute?! See, we're a store for kids, so we're writing our logo like your first-grader would!"
What the hell does a star inside the R mean? They're ruining my childhood!!!
Getting rid of the quotes is good, but without the star they've smushed it all together so it looks like one word.
I used to work as ToysRus back in the day when it was Toys "R" Us. Those quotes drove me mad. If I worked there now I think the logo would still bug me.

maybe they should have changed it to apostrophes to indicate the missing letter A and E.

Did you mean alerted?
Technically it should be toys 'R' us, to indicate an abbreviation...
(Agree with anon, in other words!)
indeed. typo repaired.
Oh, and the new logo looks like the Republican Elephant logo now. Great.
I'm with e:) -- the correct thing to do would make it apostrophes to indicate contraction/dropped letters.
Quotes or not, six years of college and grad-school Russian ruined the company's name for me from the start. It's still Toys Ya Us.
They removed the quotation marks. Great. Has anyone told them that their big ol' R is backwards?!
If we really want to get technical, it should be Toys are We.
