they work somewhere else


Vicky saw this at a McDonald's. Maybe the quotation marks indicate that the crew does not work directly under the sign, but in its general vicinity.

It&rsuo;s a stretch, but maybe they forgot a dash in front of 91st: after all, they could be attributing the word “here” to a band named 91st, and their greatest fan, Olive, all of whom have patronized this McDonald’s location.

I think they just used the quotation marks to distract from the glaring subject noun agreement error. The crew "works," not "work."
