The layers of this antique sign found in the Men's or "Men's" room at Famous Dave's in Grand Rapids, MI are many and varied.
I'm sure that no one in Eau Claire thought about the double meaning implied by the quotes around Butch. Do they imply a certain sexuality? If they don't, then perhaps the brand name Southern Rose does.

Technically this is correct quote usage.
"butch" brand is well known in the south, circa 1950's. Remember the movie 'Grease'?
I must contest this one as well, it seems "correct" to me.
You spelled "varied" wrong. (So sorry, I couldn't resist! The evil grammarian inside wouldn't let me!)
The argument isn't incorrect. it's unnecessary. (And fun to misinterpret)
Actually, I think this usage could be considered appropriate, depending on how it was meant, but it's quite funny, especially considering what's it's come to mean to the general public in recent years.
OMG...I live in Eau Claire and I've never heard of this! And trust me the about the only thing "Butch" that would be in Eau Claire would be Rose.
